An Unabashed Lost Fanatic's Complaint
I'm not much of a TV fan. I haven't been since my sophomore year of college and I made the wise decision not to pay for cable. Since then, I've looked upon most things that come upon the TV with disdain. Personally, I'm more of an Internet and book fiend.
But, I do have to confess that my friend got me addicted to Lost when the second season came around. I borrowed his DVDs of the first season and basically had a marathon of watching them. Since then, I've been hooked - no other show has kept me this engaged! Sure, there have been other shows I have been a fan of. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Xena, Family Guy, Futurama, The L Word. But no show has consistently kept me interested, and very actively engaged. The L Word lost me midway through this season and I still haven't caught up on the episodes. I also like Heroes a lot, but haven't been able to figure out if/when it is coming back on air (or on the Internet, since I don't have cable), which kind of turns me off - I like to know when my shows are coming back!
But Lost is incredibly engaging for me. I love the complex character analysis, the interwinding storylines, the confusing puzzles, and the labarynth feeling to the show.
However, I do have a complaint. Stop the extreme focus on the Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle. It's getting to be tedious. We know she can't choose. We know they are pissed about it. But for serious, it's getting exhausting to watch episode after episode that seems to be focused on their dysfucntional-ness.
I will forgive you, writers, for this annoyance. But only because the Jin/Sun storyline is so good.
Sorry if you aren't a Lost fan and are totally confused by the above rant, but I just had to get that out. If you haven't gotten into Lost, I would seriously recommend you check out the first season. It's probably some of the best stuff on TV. Great acting, fantastic writing, and very excellent cinematography.
Also....all the cool kids are watching it.

Well, I am as up to date as the Lost website lets me be.
**SPOILERS**
I just finished watching the episode where they take out Jack's appendix. Are you talking about them offing Claire? I never really saw her as too self-sufficient since for so long she had to rely on Charlie, and bloody everyone else basically. Personally, I think Sun is a very strong and self-sufficient and kick-ass character. I think Kate is a strong character, but just way too wrapped up in the boys. I think Rose is also an amazing character, and I really really wish they would explore her and Bernard more because I think there is a lot of untapped potential there.
